Kanban rules OK!

We are delighted to have completed a project in partnership with a major customer to provide “next day” replenishment of all fabricated metalwork enclosures that we supply to their production facility.    Our customer is a market leader in their particular field and needs to ensure the supply chain is flexible enough to cope with variable demand patterns for their products.

Working jointly on the project we have set up a Kanban system that reflects both their operational needs and our cost effective fabrication quantities and using a simple e mail replenishment request we can respond to their order book with a delivery next working day (and even same day if absolutely necessary).

The customers Kanban signal to MSL generates a fabrication requirement which alerts our punch operator and the process of internal replenishment can start immediately.  With short internal lead times and the ability to control the entire manufacturing process including powder coat painting in house, product is back in stock extremely quickly ready for the next Kanban signal.  Not having to spend energy on lead time panics and stock level surprises allows both our customer and ourselves to spend a little more quality time managing and improving the system

This as a clear “value add” for our customer and one we are delighted to be able to offer as we believe helping them to grow their business will definitely grow our business – a win-win, and as they say, “just the ticket”!

If you are looking to improve your supply chain for fabricated metal products why not take advantage of our capabilities and talk to us about how we may be able work in partnership with your company.
